About

Hi and welcome to my blog, My name is Chris McKellar I am a second year student at University of Derby doing the Computer Games Programming degree. From an early age I’ve been brought up on gaming thanks to having an older brother who always got the latest console. Ive played a lot of games and the earliest console we had was the Commodore 64. I still have a lot of my original consoles and games.

From about the age of 15 i started looking at how games were made, I started looking at visual basic programming and made a few applications on it. I began to get more interested in programming and started looking at games programming as a career, to get there i needed to go to university to get the experience of programming and to learn C++.

I took my A levels I.T,Media studies and got a place on the Computer Games Programming course at Derby. After completing one year i have learnt so much and cant wait to learn more. I am one step closer to my dream of working in the games industry.

On this blog you will find I will be posting about programming mostly in C++. I will update my blog every week and talk about things I’ve learnt and current ongoing projects. I will post snippets of code that may be of use and talk about problems i encounter.

I am currently on my placement year working at Monumental Games in Nottingham as a game designer.
